Steven Muleme is a Ugandan human-rights advocate, cultural producer, and nonprofit leader based in New York City. He is the Founder of African Queer Voices (AQV), a nonprofit organization dedicated to amplifying African queer writers and artists through storytelling, arts-based advocacy, and community healing.

Steven brings over 10 years of experience leading community-centered LGBTQ+ initiatives across Africa and in the diaspora. His work sits at the intersection of art and advocacy, using creative expression as a tool for visibility, dignity, and social change. He has contributed to global human-rights spaces, collaborated with international partners, and supported emerging creatives to share their stories safely and powerfully.

Through AQV, Steven continues his commitment to elevating African queer narratives and building platforms where creativity, resilience, and justice meet.
