On September 21, 2026, African Queer Voices Founder and Director Steven Muleme joined the UN LGBTI Core Group meeting at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The meeting’s theme was “Championing Diversity in Times of Adversity: Standing Up for LGBTI Persons.”

For African LGBTQ+ communities, representation in global human rights conversations matters. AQV’s participation reflects our commitment to bringing the experiences and perspectives of our communities into spaces where equality and human rights are discussed.

We will continue connecting community voices with opportunities for dialogue, advocacy, and international engagement.
